Variable Annuities

General Account Options

We offer General Account options ("General Account"), where we bear the investment risk in that you are guaranteed to never earn less than the minimum interest rate required by state law. We currently offer a 1-year General Account Option and 6-month and 12-month dollar cost averaging options (DCA options). The effective interest rate on the DCA options will be less than the declared rate because of the declining balance held in the options. Additional General Account options of differing durations and declared interest rates may be available from time to time and made available by rider. We also reserve the right not to offer any General Account options.

With regard to all current and future General Account Options, we reserve the right to impose restrictions on the amount of Contract Value allocated to one or all General Account Options or on the amount of premium that you may allocate into a General Account option or that you may transfer into a General Account option. We will notify you of any of these changes. We have sole discretion over how assets allocated to the General Account are invested, and we bear the risk that those assets will perform better or worse than the amount of interest we have declared or the minimum guaranteed interest rate. The focus of this prospectus is to disclose the Separate Account aspects of the Contract. Refer to the Contract for details regarding the General Account options. Declared Interest Rate. We offer a declared interest rate on all General Account options which we reset periodically, but no more frequently than annually for existing allocations. New premium allocations and transfers will be credited with the declared rate we are offering on the date of the transaction. This declared interest rate will never be less than the minimum allowed by state law at the time we issue your Contract. We guarantee the declared interest rate for the period specified, but do not guarantee the declared interest rate for the duration of any Contract.

In this regard, should you transfer to the Subaccounts and back to the General Account, we reserve the right to have the declared interest rate be the rate currently being offered to new Contracts and subsequent premiums and not the rate that you were receiving previously. We also reserve the right to change the minimum guaranteed interest rate for newly issued Contracts and subsequent premium, subject to applicable state law. The Declared Rate may also vary between General Account options should additional options become available. Amounts allocated to the General Account become assets of our general account. Benefits funded through the general account are not securities, have not been registered with the SEC and are not subject to SEC regulation, nor is the general account registered as an investment company with the SEC. SEC staff have not reviewed the General Account disclosures in this prospectus. Disclosures about the General Account in this prospectus are subject to the anti-fraud provisions of securities laws.
